The match was played at Soldier Field, Chicago (home of the NFL's Chicago Bears). It was part of 'The Rugby Weekend', aimed at promoting rugby in the USA, which also included a match between a USA XV and a Maori All Black XV.
It ended not only Ireland's 111-year wait for a victory over the All Blacks, but a record 18-match winning streak for New Zealand.
